And she wept.

Not because of the storm, the rain, the disappointed moment. But because of it all.

Each time she was promised a new beginning, a life, someone who had her back - they evaporated.

And her half glass full demeanour, which each time became full, suddenly became depleted. ‘I will be the one to make a difference’ they proclaimed - until it became difficult or inconvenient. But it didn’t diminish her, she burned brighter with each promise, more determined to shine. She saw their weak protestations, but this made her burn brighter, despite them.

Until one could hold her, really hold her, they would go.
